This assignment will ask you to sketch wireframes with pen and paper and also sign up for a free Figma account using your university email address.

Watch part of the video below if you want to see how sketching works in detail. You don't have to use a digital application to sketch unless you want to. You are welcome to use pen and paper.

Instructions

1. Choose a website from the Unit 2 assignment page.

2. Sketch 2 completely different potential redesign concepts of the home page on pen and paper. The redesigned pages must use sketching/wireframing conventions and they must be neat. Sloppy sketches will not earn credit. (You may design for desktop or mobile, but both sketches need to be for the same device size.) The sketches should include:

   • Some kind of navigation
   • Placeholders for images (boxes with X in them)
   • Placeholders for text (straight or squiggly lines, except for key labels and headings, which you can just use words for)
   • Labels marking anything where the purpose may be unclear

3. Visit Figma and sign up for a free account. Make sure you sign up using your university email address.

4. Follow the directions on Figma's website to verify your student status for a free professional account.

5. Submit the following documents to the Sketch Homework and Figma Account assignment in the Unit 2 section of Blackboard:

   1. Clear, legible scans or photos (jpg, png, or pdf) of your 2 concept sketches.
   2. A screenshot confirmation that you have been approved for a Figma Student account. (I will still count your project complete even if you do not include this screenshot. It is just a good idea to sign up as a student now rather than later, so I am encouraging you to do it at the same time you do the sketches.)
